The Charlottesville Racing Club and UVA Cycling Club are proud to announce the second annual CVLEBIKEFEST presented by The Dairy Market on Saturday, April 29, 2023 from 10 AM to 4 PM! The day long fest will be a series of Criterium races and a noon bike parade. The aim of the Fest is to not only bring a series of high-quality bike races to Charlottesville, but also fundraise for the local non-profit bicycle shop, Charlottesville Community Bikes (CCB). CCB promotes environmentally-sound transportation, recycles bicycles, and makes biking accessible to the local community and believes equitable access to affordable, reliable bike transportation can be transformative to people in need. This fundraiser will go towards helping CCB expand their youth programming. You can make a difference by donating here.
The Charlottesville Criterium and Bike Fest wouldn't be possible without the support of the Dairy Market and our other sponsors.

This is a fun, 6 corner course near downtown Charlottesville. There is one uphill kicker halfway through the course with a chicane at the top; and the finishing straight is on a wide 3% uphill drag. There are definitely attack points on this course with the opportunity to make the race exciting!
The course has been mapped out on Strava.
This be will a fun event for the family. The city has graciously allowed us to close off Preston ave. and the portion of Grady directly in front of Dairy Market. We have ample space to watch racers whiz by on the course, we have partnered with the Dairy Market, who have all sorts of food and beverage vendors who will be participating in the event. See below for more info on food and beverage options.
There will be a Juniors race: The race is Criterium for ages 9-18 at 10am that lasts 20 minutes. There are two steps involved and both MUST be done BEFORE race day: 1) Obtain USA Cycling membership (free for Juniors!). Please see https://usacycling.org/juniors/ for further information. 2) Sign up for Event here: https://www.bikereg.com/charlottesville-criterium.
There will be a bike parade: Anyone (young or old) is welcome to join in the bike parade to ride 20-30 minutes around on the closed course at a slow “Party Pace.” This is not a race! Any type of bicycle is welcome, including e-bikes, but helmets are required for all cyclists!
What’s a Criterium race? A criterium is a mass start, multi-lap event contested on a closed course where laps are typically a mile or less and include 4-6 corners. Racers do a pre-determined number of laps or race for a pre-determined amount of time. The Juniors race will last 20 min.
What’s the address of the race? Registration and vendor tents (food/beverage/other) will all be in front of the Dairy Market (946 Grady Ave.). How do I sign up for the Juniors race (ages 9-18)? There are two steps involved and both must be done BEFORE race day: 1) Obtain USA Cycling membership (free for Juniors!). Please see https://usacycling.org/juniors/ for further information. 2) Sign up for Event here.
How do I sign up for the kids race (ages 8 and under)? Sign up will be on race day at the registration table (in front of the Dairy Market) and must be complete before 11:30am. Helmets are required!
Where can I park? Free parking is available either at the Albemarle County Office Building (401 McIntire Rd), the lower parking deck at the Jefferson School City Center (233 4th St. NW), or Jackson P Burley Middle School (901 Rose Hill Dr). There is also paid parking at the Dairy Market (first hour is free).
How can I support Community Bikes? You can make financial donations to this GoFundMe. And, you can find out about more ways to get involved at their website.
Will it be fun for adults? Yes! Besides watching the racers whiz by on the course, we have partnered with the Dairy Market, who have all sorts of food and beverage vendors who will be participating in the event.
I’m an adult and I want race, can I? Yes! Sign-up is in at the same site where Juniors will sign-up: https://www.bikereg.com/charlottesville-criterium.
I want to help. How do I volunteer? We need your help to make this event a success. We have several shifts throughout the day for course marshals (to be positioned at several intersections) to allow pedestrians to cross the course when safe.
