Lots of Racing this Weekend: A Report from the Dirt Side

There was a lot of racing going on this year. I decided to forgo the Hillclimb in favor of one of the best races in the state of VA…the Middle Mountain Momma. It’s an epic battle between rider and gravity. The climb over the first mountain is about an hour of grinding away hoping that the next switchback brings you over the top…and even when you do hit that last switchback making the rise to the glorious descent is an effort that will shake even the strongest of minds.

HRM- 5 hour race average

Race is in the book, but not on the books. Results are still not up, so we really have minimal idea of how we did. The new software system that they were using did not tabulate stuff as it was supposed to, so they have the raw numbers that they have to sift through and figure things out from. I wish Mark luck with that.

Results we “know” for the local groups:
Johanna Kraus -1st place Women’s Pro/Expert (she dominated)
James Wittwer -1st place Juniors (seems to be a genetic tendency to go fast on the bike)

CRC Thanksgiving Day ride 2002

Ride at Panorama on Thanksgiving morning, 2002. I added all the names I could remember, or make out their faces under all those clothes. I know it was damn cold that day!

Saturday Dec.29th Dirt Road Ride

At NOON on Saturday Dec.29th there will be an approx. 45 mile dirt road ride leaving from Victory Hill Church in western Albemarle. The ride can be done on ANY type of bike. Even a road bike (Mark King) would be ok but a little hard on your butt! RAIN CANCELS.
Victory Hill Church: take I64 to the Crozet Exit. Turn left on Rt.250 and go about 200 yards. Make a left on Patterson Mill Road. The Church is IMMEDIATELY on the right. Here is the link to the map and info. http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-states/va/brownsville/685155490
