I’ve been racing since 1983 as a junior. Took a long break in the 90’s from racing, then went back to the road scene again until 2007. Been riding for fun ever since.

I currently work as a software analyst at Perrin Quarles Associates.

I am married to Scott Bechtel (an awesome downhill and cross country rider…former owner of “Downhill Zone, WA”. We have two boys ages 1 (Jake) and 3 (Teddy). We moved to VA 3 years ago and are trying to integrate our mountain biking lifestyle with our busy family life. Scott and I have been mountain bikers since the late 80’s.

I started riding about 5 years ago. I enjoy the social rides a lot, but I am now also interested in racing, because I am pretty competitive and I know I have a lot of work ahead of me. I also enjoy other sports like soccer, tennis, golf, swimming, racquetball, running, skateboarding, skiing (trying snowboarding this year), yeah so generally any sport that gets me moving and meeting people. I also like doing arts & crap stuff like crocheting, knitting, painting (oil, watercolor, and acrylic), and gardening. I hate cleaning my house and washing dishes!! (yeah I ain’t wife material) I always look forward to the next mountain biking event, except for the O’hill Meltdown, which I know I will have to do at least once in my lifetime…

I just really started biking. I have always messed around on mountain bikes going on random trails that im not supposed to be on. I just really got into it this summer. I started Road biking with the Girls and Boys Club to get ready for the full century in late ocotber. Now I am at Blue Ridge School Mountain Biking team and enjoy it a lot. I had my first real race in the beginning of the year which was the Charlottesville Omnium and placed first in the Junior division.

55 year old married male, two teen age daughters, salesman by trade. Been cycling for three years, ride a Specialized Sequoia triple with Mavic OpenPro wheels.

I finish a lot.. generally not last! I finished the 2007 SM100 in 12 hours 25 minutes, aiming for sub 12hr next year.
