Blue Ridge Cyclocross Cup = fun
It’s been a while since I lined up for a race but I’m glad I made the trip over the mountain last night. I missed the first BRCC race in C-Ville two weeks ago and wanted to represent on foreign soil. The venue was great although the course was a bit hard to find at times. I loved the community/grassroots vibe and thought it was well organized considering there was no formal promoter. The guy who seemed to be in charge was very good at keeping the process on track and orderly.
The course was in a city park and started out with a paved climb followed by a tight 90 degree right hander and then off on a circuit of the park. Mostly fast hard grass over small and moderate hills.
I didn’t set any lap records (I’m pretty sure I beat the kid on the trail-a-bike though) but I had a great time panting and grunting my way round the park. The highlights were the long fast descents, nailing my line on tight curvy section now and again and finally clearing the dirt hill on the last lap. Didn’t get to enjoy any malted beverages post race as I had to get home quickly but I’m already looking forward to the next venue in the Queen City.
Cheers,
Sean
