Details from friend who raced last year:
“The course is rolling, with a couple of uphills of note. None of these are particularly long, so given a reasonable field size, it should not be too difficult to catch back on or avoid being dropped. It was the season opener last year, and I did not get gapped on hills, even though that is typically my weakness. There also some flatter stretches for recovery. I would say that the race is slightly less challenging than the Jeff Cup course. One reason for this is that the Jeff Cup has a long drag up to the finish line on a false flat. The finish of the Wolfpack race is iirc not nearly as bad. In the lower cats, I would expect a field sprint if last year is any indicator, but a breakaway could be possible.
Also, Shawn Kane, the NC State promoter, puts on a good race. It’s only three or so hours away as well. And since there are only two road races in Virginia this year, it’s certainly worth the trip. Additionally, there are great barbecue places where you can refuel.”
