2008 Virginia Cyclocross Series Final (Darden Towe) December 6th
State Senior TT Race Report

Today was the State Senior Time Trial, Rather hot but not nearly as bad as two weeks ago. Course had a headwind out, slight rise out, making for fast return trips.
I went into this a little overcooked from the race last Sunday and a hard week of riding, so I felt good, but not great by any means. I tried to go hard from the start, but for the first third I caught my watts dropping in a few spots costing me some time, which was annoying.
On the outbound trip I caught three riders, nobody caught me. On the return trip I got about 4 more, and again no one caught me.
Finished with a 59:02 which is about 30 seconds higher then I was shooting for. However, I think I found a new position on the return trip which is faster, but hard to hold right now. Something to practice next time. I finished 6th in the Masters 40+, which is pretty good.
Need to work on the new position and consistency for the first 20 minutes for PLT#2.

Ah ha!! And if your time
Ah ha!!
And if your time was a little slow this year at the race… we apparently had some elves on the course. I was able to turn around some signs on the road leading to the race that were changed to point you away from the race, and it seems the 20k turn around sign was moved. This added about 500 meters total to the race, and depending on your speed, about 45 seconds +-. The good thing is that everyone raced the same distance, so it did not affect the results, just everyone’s pride! (And boy I sure would like to have back the signs that went “missing”!)
