2nd Annual Chimney Chase
CRC will once again bring mountain bike racing to Walnut Creek. This year’s event, the 2nd Annual Chimney Chase will be on Sunday May 11th. We’ll be running the same course from last year due to all the great feedback we received. CAMBC, the Charlottesville Area Mountain Bike Club has been hard at work maintaining and sprucing up the trails over the winter to ensure that Walnut Creek Park remains one of the best mountain bike trail systems in Virginia.
The 10.5 mile course will showcase some of Central VA’s best single track. There will be 1400 feet of elevation change per lap which means that the climbs are somewhat tamer then their western brethren but the course still retains some great descents. Roots, rocks, and tight turns will provide fun and challenge for riders of all experience and skill level.Expert Riders will complete three laps of the course, Sport Riders two, and Beginner riders one.
CRC will be leading a pre-ride in the weeks to come to take a look at the course. Check back for details on time and date. In the mean time, local racers will have home field advantage so if you want to take a sneak peak at the course by yourself or with some buddies print out the attached map.
This years race is not part of any series so if you missed the Blue Ridge School’s “Ride the Ridge” race on March 29th, don’t feel like you’ve missed out on any points. We hope you will join us in May.
